On the smartphone market you have the possibility to find amazing devices that come with useful features and apps that allow you to complete your daily tasks. I find pretty interesting to compare the BlackBerry Bold 9900 with the iPhone 4. Let’s find out which one of these smartphones is the best.

Starting with the exterior design, these devices are very different: the iPhone comes with a sharp and polished glass design while the Bold has the same squashed appearance as its predecessors with the keyboard and screen squeezed into its frame. Taking into consideration measurements, the iPhone 4 is thinner and heavier than the Bold 9900, and in the same time it’s more elegant and stylish. That means this section, is easily won over by the iPhone 4.
Moving on, to the display, I must add that the BlackBerry Bold features a 2.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and uses the Liquid Graphics technology for a better touch control experience. On the other hand, the iPhone 4 features a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a 640 x 960 pixel resolution, accelerometer, multitouch feat and gyro sensor. As a result, the iPhone 4 gains other important points due to its larger and better touchscreen.
When it comes to the hardware department, both smartphones are equipped with powerful single core processors. The iPhone 4 is powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor with 512MB of RAM while the Bold comes with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM. If you take into consideration their processors, you will notice that both smartphones offer smooth performance even if the Bold should be higher performance than the iPhone. Regarding the operating system, the Bold runs on BlackBerry OS 7 that comes with a full HTML5 browser, Flash support and many useful features and apps. On the other hand, the iPhone runs on iOS 4, now upgradable to iOS 5 which offers advanced features and apps.

I can’t forget about the cameras available on these devices. The BlackBerry Bold features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and 720p video recording capabilities, but no front-facing camera. The iPhone 4 integrates a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and advanced camera settings. You will be also able to capture 720p videos and use a front facing camera for video calling. Taking into consideration photo quality, you will definitely prefer the iPhone 4’s camera. So, Apple’s smartphone gains yet another point.
Bottom line, both devices are great smartphones, but the iPhone 4 remains a fierce competitor for each new release because of its high-end features.
