The BlackBerry Curve 8300 was released in 2007 and comes with a slim design and an improved full QWERTY keyboard. It catches your attention with the silver-and-black color scheme. This smartphone measures 4.2 x 2.6 x 0.5 inches and weighs around 3.9 ounces, being smaller and lighter than the BlackBerry 8800. You will find it comfortable to hold in your hand because of the rubbery texture that offers extra grip.

On the front surface of the smartphone you will see a 2.5-inch screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and able to support 65,000 colors. This display features light-sensing technology, so it adjusts backlight automatically depending on the environment. You will be able to customize the screen by using wallpapers, themes and by changing font size and style. Under the screen you will see the standard navigation array with Talk and End/Power buttons, a Menu shortcut, an Escape key and in the middle a trackball navigator. On the left side of the BlackBerry you will discover the mini-USB port and a convenience key while on the right side you will notice the volume rocker and a launch button for the camera. This BlackBerry also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot.
For typing messages and emails you have the possibility to use the full QWERTY keyboard that is well spaced and has responsive buttons. Because the smartphone is compatible with any company’s BlackBerry Enterprise server, you will be able to send emails in real time. This Blackberry also provides support for IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise and allows you to access POP3 and IMAP 4 email accounts. With the help of the available attachment viewer, you can now open Microsoft Office documents, PDFs, and JPG and GIF files. Other features available on this smartphone are voice dialing, conference calling, speed dial and push-to-talk services. The available phone book allows you to enter for each contact up to 8 phone numbers, email addresses, job title, a picture ID and other personal details.

When it comes to the wireless options offered by this BlackBerry, I need to mention that it’s able to support Bluetooth, EDGE and HTML browser. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to use Wi-Fi, 3G or GPS. I also have to mention the 2MP camera available on the back of the phone and equipped with 5x zoom and built-in flash. What the camera lacks are video recording capabilities (available are only some basic settings including white balance, color effects and three quality options). On this smartphone you will also discover a built-in media player that comes with a nice interface and is able to support various file formats.
