Export Video Off Iphone 4

The iPhone 4 comes with a 5-megapixel camera that allows you to capture HD videos of your family and friends. The only problem is that you can’t upload these HD videos directly on YouTube or Facebook even if you install the iMovie app on your iPhone. So, you will first have to transfer the HD videos to your computer. The process of exporting a video off your iPhone 4 is not extremely complicated but requires some prior knowledge.

The first thing you will have to do is connect your iPhone 4 to your computer using the USB cable that came with it. You will then have to click Start and choose Computer. When the new window is displayed, you will have to look under Portable Devices and choose the entry that refers to your iPhone 4. In order to access it you will have to double click it. In the next step you will have to double-click “Internal storage” in order to browse the smartphone’s memory in search of the video file of your interest. You will find the videos you want to export off your iPhone within the DCIM folder, in the section dedicated to photos and videos. Once you get to the folder that includes the targeted video you will have to click the “More Options” arrow that’s part of each window of your computer’s OS and click “Details”.

Afterwards, you will be able to organize the video and picture content of your iPhone so that you can faster locate the data of interest. For example, you can click on the “Date Picture Taken” column in order to have the pictures/videos sorted ascending or descending based on the date when they were captured. After you locate the video you want to transfer to your computer you will have to use a drag and drop action in order to make it part of your computer’s desktop. The video will not be deleted from your iPhone, because a copy and not the original file is made available on your computer’s desktop. From that moment on, you can do anything you want with the video recorded with your iPhone 4.

Another option is to use the Pixelpipe app that promises to remove the restriction that reduces all videos you want to send by email or upload to YouTube to a maximum resolution of 560 x 320 pixels. By installing this app on your iPhone, you will be able to upload videos of HD quality on many websites including Facebook, YouTube, MobileMe and Flickr. The limitation is that the video can have a maximum of 200MB. That’s means for larger videos you will still have to use your computer as intermediary.
