Year 2010, month June. This is when the first iPhone4’s were sold in the United States of America. After this date, some complaints came from customers who purchased this phone, regarding weak signal. As a little bit of informational seek showed, the signal loss came in a moment when the user’s hand touched the lower left corner of the iPhone4, where the antennas are, this causing turbulence s in receiving a clear signal.
Apple states on their webs site that their involvement in researching and enhancing their phone’s antennas is one of the highest among mobile phone producers in the world. Multimillion dollars investments were made in a laboratory that reproduce signal amplification and attenuation situations. They say that over 17 tests are made to a phone before the product is launched on the market.
Their official position is that every mobile phone losses signal because of various issues and by touching the left corner metallic strip of the iPhone4 is a normal reason for signal loss. This is the price paid by the iPhone4 for the design and some other rules and regulations. The only way to go around this problem is to dress up the iPhone4 with at least a strap that covers the antennas, not allowing the hand to make direct contact with the metallic antennas.
However, after the media started to tell about these problems, and Jobs himself got a big number of e-mails regarding the antenna issue, Apple started it’s Free Case Program.
In order to receive the free case, a few steps had to be taken by customers, such as registering with the iPhone’s serial number, and so on. After this, they were able to pick one of the eight free cases according to their likes and needs. But, the Free Case Program ended in October 2010, so, if you are experiencing antenna receptions with your naked iPhone, you can purchase a case for prices that start from around 19 dollars and goes up to 100 plus.
Fixing the iPhone4 antenna reception problem is only a matter of will.11
