Iphone 4 Vs Droid X

The iPhone 4 and the Motorola Droid X are pretty similar smartphones that come packed with a wide variety of features and capabilities. In order to find out which one of these high end devices is the better smartphone I have compared their characteristics. Check out what I found.

Placed side by side, these smartphones have almost the same dimensions. The Droid X is a bit taller, measuring 5 x 2.6 x 0.4 inches, and heavier than the iPhone 4, weighing 5.4 ounces. On the other hand, the iPhone is thinner than the Droid X measuring only 0.37 inches in depth. Both devices come with gorgeous touchscreens but of different sizes and resolution. However, they both display crisp and sharp images. The iPhone 4 features a 3.5-inch touchscreen with Retina Display which is better than the 4.3-inch touchscreen of the Droid X with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels.

The hardware department of both devices is well represented by powerful processors that deliver enough power for running the operating system available and providing an incredible user experience. You will find on each smartphone a 1GHz processor with 8/16/32GB of storage (on the iPhone 4) and 8GB on the Droid X. Regarding the operating systems available on these phones you should know that they both offer plenty of advanced features and amazing widgets. The iPhone 4 runs on iOS 4, upgradable to version 5 and offers access to the App Store from where you can download more than 250,000 apps. It also allows you to use Safari web browser, image editor, TV-out, calendar and voice command/dial. On the other hand, the Droid X runs on Android 2.1, upgradable to version 2.3 and comes packed with plenty of advanced features including text and multimedia messaging, document viewer, photo viewer/editor and a few preinstalled Google apps.

Each smartphone comes with a built-in media player able to support various file formats while the Droid X also offers FM radio. You will also find on both devices performance cameras. The iPhone 4 is equipped with a VGA front-facing camera designed for video calls and a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and 720p video recording capabilities. The Droid X features only an 8MP rear camera equipped with dual-LED flash, camera settings and 720p recording capabilities. However, the iPhone’s camera manages to take better pictures than the 8MP camera of the Droid X.

Connectivity is well represented on both smartphones. You will have the possibility to choose from various options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and 3G. The Droid X also provides support for Adobe Flash which lacks on the iPhone. Overall, these smartphones are amazing devices, but the iPhone 4 is definitely the winner.
