Some of the most usual problems regarding the iPhone 4 are the ones related to sending or receiving messages. Loads of users have complained about not being able to either send or receive messages from their iPhone. Updating the iOS to its latest version should most likely help. In case the phone remains “blocked” with some sort of glitch, simply power it off and then restart it again to make sure there’s nothing running in the background.
We are going to target those situations when you are unable to send or receive multimedia messages (such as ones including pictures, files etc.). In case you’ve eliminated the obvious attempts such as iOS upgrades and reboots without a result, you need to go to the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant. This is a specialized software that will help you diagnose the kind of problem you are facing with and get to the bottom of it in a simple “do it yourself” manner.
The first thing you should do is to make sure you’re well within a good signal area and make sure that your phone did not remain on Airplane mode. Move around or even go outside in case you’re getting bad signal.
In case you have made some special settings to the network, you should try reverting them to their original state. Maybe you’ve made some settings that are, in some way preventing the phone to properly send / receive messages. To change the settings back simply head to Settings, General and tap on the Reset Network Settings option.
Another problem may be caused by the bad position of the SIM card. In case the phone has suffered some recent shocks or bumps, it is possible that the SIM card might have been moved in its slot on impact. You need to remove the SIM card which is very simply done by simply inserting the SIM eject tool and getting the SIM tray out. Take the SIM card out, and reposition it until it enters in the tray properly. Push the tray all the way back to make sure that the SIM card is fully within proximity of the connectors.
In case you are sending an MMS or SMS to several people at once, you should also make sure that ALL of them have their area codes also inserted with the number. If one of them is recorded with faulty information, automatically the iPhone will be unable to send the SMS/ MMS.
Another issue usually appears when you port your number form one carrier to another. in case of the said issues you need to contact your current carrier and make sure that the porting process has been completed without mishaps.
